Editor's note

Over-analyzed on the pitch. Under-examined off it.

AFTER90 goes beyond the athlete's 90 minutes, seeking to understand the human while the world watches the player.

When you understand the person, you understand the player.Core belief

AFTER90 · About

Made from inside the game.

I started After 90 because I got tired of watching footballers get reduced to performances. Statistics. Headlines. Ninety minutes, then nothing.

Football is one of the most powerful cultural forces in the world. It sits right next to music, fashion, art, identity. But the people actually playing it rarely get to exist as anything more than the result of their last game. Win or lose, that's the whole story most places tell.

After 90 exists to tell the other one. The one about who someone is when the shirt comes off. What they listen to. What they wear. What they believe. The culture they come from and the one they're shaping.

Football is the lens here, not the subject. If a story wouldn't hold up without the football attached to it, it's not one we're interested in telling.

After 90 is the publication I wanted to exist when I was still in it.

David Oduntan · Founder

I came through the game myself, academy football at Crystal Palace and various academies, before playing semi-professionally in the National League. I know how little of a player's actual identity survives the way football media usually covers them.
